What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of complementary therapy relating to energy healing. Proponents say that it works with the energy fields around the body and involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to the client.

What is Reiki

Reiki is like an energy massage. Many people go for a physical massage, right?

We also have energy. We have blood circulation which is made of what we eat and what we drink.

So if we eat always jank food, our blood is really bad condition.

And we also have energy inside and outside the body which is made of what we feel, emotion and our thoughts.

So if we always worry, or are angry or negative things, our energy becomes a really bad condition.

So we connect to the universal energy and take the love universal energy into our body and let this negative energy our and take in the “love”, harmonised energy, so we can really positive and happier. That’s all about Reiki.

Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing.

Mikao Usui developed reiki in the early 1900s, deriving the term from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Now, reiki is used all over the world, including in hospitals and hospices, to complement other forms of health treatments.

The health benefits of reiki

Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being. It can:

  • Bring on a meditative state.
  • Foster tissue and bone healing after injury or surgery.
  • Stimulate your body’s immune system.
  • Promote natural self-healing.
  • Relieve pain and tension.
  • Support the well-being of people receiving traditional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and kidney dialysis.

reiki treatment may create feelings of:

  • Peace.
  • Relaxation.
  • Security.
  • Wellness.

What conditions does reiki treat?

“Because it works on the entire self – mind, body and emotions – and because it is universal life force energy, reiki may be successful in all types of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing,” Bodner says.

Reiki isn’t specific to any particular type of disease or condition but may help people with:

Reiki can also help you prepare for surgery, which may help boost your recovery afterward.

How does reiki work?

Reiki practitioners act as a conduit between you and the source of the universal life force energy. The energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to you.

“The patient determines the energy flow from the practitioner’s hands by taking only what they need,” Bodner says. “This helps the patient know that we are supporting them only in what they need rather than what we think they need. This makes it the perfect balance to meet the patient’s needs.”

What does reiki feel like?

“You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where the Reiki practitioner has placed their hands,” Bodner says. “Sometimes, people feel sensations moving throughout the body, while other people do not perceive any change at all.”

Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during reiki treatment, and many fall asleep during the process.

What happens after the session?

Do not expect a diagnosis, as that is not part of Reiki. Some practitioners may make common sense suggestions for after-care, such as drinking water and following your body’s needs.

Although people typically leave a Reiki session feeling refreshed, sometimes they notice feeling more tired in the evening than usual. This is not viewed as an adverse reaction, but rather as the body’s natural healing response, something to be heeded. People commonly report a sense of calm and mental clarity and sleeping well after Reiki.

How many sessions should I receive?

Your practitioner may suggest a series of sessions. Four sessions is a traditional recommendation and gives you time to evaluate what benefits you are receiving. Discuss with your practitioner how best to space the sessions to suit your needs and your schedule.

In the presence of a serious health challenge, Reiki practitioners often recommend four sessions over four days. These need not be given by the same practitioner.

What to do after your Reiki session:

1.Integrate. 統合

Many of the benefits of Reiki can occur soon after the session ends. As such, it’s important to find somewhere quiet and relaxing to integrate what may arise. I recommend that my clients take at least 15-20 minutes after the session to meditate, lie down, go for a walk in nature, or even take a nap.

Try not to book or schedule anything immediately after your session.

2.Eat and hydrate (again!)

It’s important to hydrate after doing any type of energy work. Be sure to drink 1-2 glasses of water after your session. I find adding electrolytes to your water is also a good idea, as it helps to replenish the body.

Energy work is often hungry work, and you may find yourself feeling peckish immediately after your session too. Be sure you listen to your body and choose a healthy snack or meal afterward if needed. Eating can also help ground the body and as a bonus, you may find that piece of dark chocolate tastes extra good after energy work.

3.Reflect /journaling,

It’s often helpful to spend some time after the session reflecting—whether that means journaling, drawing, or somehow capturing any insights you had during the experience.

You may also decide to meditate afterward or listen to calming and/or inspirational music. Whatever you choose to do, find an activity that helps you connect to what you’ve experienced so you can draw on it in future.

4.Contact your practitioner if challenges arise.

Reiki is extremely gentle and yet, since energy blockages are being cleared in the body during a session, discomfort can arise. Find out what the best way is to contact your practitioner and get in touch if anything feels physically or emotionally painful after your session.
